Get to know the advantages of Dan Baojun 310, a potential challenger to the Honda Brio and LCGC

Dan Baojun 310

The name Wuling has been known as a brand with an affordable product line, but with technology and features that are no less complete than other brands. Several years ago, the world public was surprised by the presence of the Wuling Baojun 310. The reason is that the Dan Baojun 310 from the city car segment has advantages in full features but is offered at LCGC.

This car was launched in mid-2016 in China and the rumor is that it will enter Indonesia around 2018. Unfortunately, after two years after the estimated time estimate, Baojun 310 has not arrived in Indonesia. So, why is this car so phenomenal?

This front-wheel-drive car features very tempting in the city car class. For car sizes ranging from Rp. 120 to 150 million, the highest type of Baojun 310 is supported by an 8-inch high-resolution LCD screen with GPS and Bluetooth navigation systems.

In fact, some of its features can be equivalent to the Honda CR-V, which costs several times as much. For the wagon version, there is even an electric seat, cruise control, and a keyless system and engine start-stop. With such impressive features, Dan Baojun 310 is even worth competing with a city car of IDR 150 to 200 million.

So, how much better is the Baojun 310 when compared to the existing LCGC or city cars such as the Honda Brio or Toyota Agya? Let us examine the advantages of Baojun 310 further.

Excess Baojun 310, Five Star Features Street Prices

We don’t expect Wuling to sell Dan Baojun 310 at this price in Indonesia. Even if you enter here, there will definitely be an increase. But still, if it is sold at a price of Rp. 150 million, it is still quite cheap when compared to products in its class.

In their home country, this car is only sold for between RMB 36,800 (Rp.73 million) to RMB 49,800 (Rp. 98 million). Baojun 310 is available in four types, namely Value, Comfort, Fashion, and Luxury. When entering Indonesia, there will be taxes, import duties, PPNBM, and BBN-KB which will certainly increase the price of Dan Baojun 310.

PT SGMW Motor Indonesia, as the agent holding the Wuling brand in the country, even stated its intention to play in the city car segment. But it has not been accomplished until now.

Baojun 310 is equipped with special features compared to the existing city car line. Cool Features in this car include leather seats, sunroof, Cruise Control, an infotainment system with an 8-inch touch screen, a navigation system, and a reverse camera. Even the wagon variant is even equipped with an electric seat.

In addition, this car has also been supported by several modern safety features such as ABS, EBD, and 4 airbags. With prices below Rp. 200 million now, it is clearly impossible to find a city car with sunroof and cruise control features. Even though the features are wow, the Baojun 310 engine is nothing special.

Baojun 310 Engine Specifications, Standard and Not Impressive

The power source for the Baojun 310 comes from a naturally aspirated 1.2-liter engine. The engine is capable of producing 81 hp with 116 Nm of torque at 3,600 rpm, with an average fuel consumption of 5.3 liters / 100 km. The Dan Baojun 310 is unfortunately only available with a 5-speed manual transmission.

In the nomenclature or classification of models in the large General Motors group, the Dan Baojun 310 uses the same base as the Chevrolet Sail. This car measures 4,032 mm long, 1,672 mm wide, and 1,440 mm high and has a wheelbase of 2,550 mm.

This hatchback, as quoted by Carscoops, is said to combine the company’s traditional styling with a youthful and modern look. That is, the Baojun 310 design has the characteristics of a high roof and wide glass like a Baojun or Wuling car in general.

The design is stylish and youthful with a large grille and a sharp-angled headlamp silhouette. In last year’s minor facelift, Baojun beautified the 310 with blue accents on the bumper. Unfortunately, with such long dimensions, the size of the tires used is rather small, so the comparison with the body is somewhat less than ideal.

This concept is similar to the Wuling Confero whose body is large but the tires and wheels look small. In dimensions, the Baojun 310 has a wheelbase of 2,550 mm. That is, this city car is described as the longest among the hatchback cars in its class.

So, what if we compare it to the features of the best-selling LCGC city car in Indonesia, the Honda Brio Satya? How much can this best-selling LCGC be able to withstand the penetration of new players at an equivalent price?

Excess Honda Brio Compared to Baojun 310

Honda Brio first appeared in Indonesia in 2012, and immediately achieved very good sales volume. In fact, in recent times Brio Satya has become the best-selling model in the LCGC segment. With almost the same engine specifications and segments, how can the Honda Brio survive all the advantages of the Baojun 310?

The all-new Brio was developed under the main concept of “Proud Over Class”. Honda developed it as a car that was positioned one level above its class.

The Brio has undergone improvements such as extending the wheelbase by up to 60 mm to create a larger rear-seat space. The trunk space is expanded up to 90 mm to provide more capacity.

The All-New Honda Brio maintains various aspects that are its advantages, such as the 1.2-liter i-VTEC engine with the largest power in its class. The maximum power of the i-VTEC 1.2L engine is 90 PS / 6000 and the maximum torque has reached 110 Nm / 4,800 rpm. Seeing the numbers, Brio Satya won the pressure and Baojun 310 won the torque.

The Brio Satya fuel consumption is clearly superior to the Baojun 310. Brio Satya is capable of reaching figures above 20 km/liter and even up to 30 km/liter. Meanwhile, the Baojun 310 had to be satisfied with a record figure of 18.8 km/liter. The Baojun character with a larger torque is suitable for urban commuters who often experience traffic jams.
